Normal Butyl Alcohol

Description
Normal Butyl Alcohol also known as NBA, n-Butanol, 1-butanol, butyric alcohol, is a colourless liquid with a mild odour. It is slightly miscible with water.

Resins and Coatings
NBA is used in lacquer thinners because of its strong latent solvent power for nitrocellulose. It is also an excellent solvent for most natural resins.

Manufacturing of other Chemicals
Butanol is used to produce butyl acetate through esterification and distillation with acetic acid via catalyst such as sulphuric acid. Used as an intermediate in amino resins, butyl acrylates and many other industrial chemicals production.

Other Applications
Used as an extraction agent in the manufacture of natural and synthetic products such as antibiotics, hormones, and vitamins.
